The St. Johnsbury Academy Field Semester Program and the St. Johnsbury Recreation Department are pleased to announce a new collaborative program geared to area students entering 8th grade in the fall of 2018. (We will accept 7th-8th graders this year) Modelled after and led by the Academy’s Field Semester Program staff and student leaders, this new and exciting three-week program will give participants a solid background in place-based learning focused on stewardship. Participants will learn about the natural world, how we interact with and impact it, and how we can act as better stewards of the incredible natural resources in our backyard here in the Northeast Kingdom. This will be done through a mixture of hands-on learning, journaling, visits and interviews with local business and environmental leaders, and service work. Of course, the program will not be all learning, we will mix in fun with visits to local swimming holes and will mix in some hiking and other outdoor activities.
